Holy Spokes Bicycling Ministry

For adults 21+

Join us for some great rides, fellowship & fun as we cycle throughout the city and nearby parks. Stopping for snacks and refreshments along the way! Cycling routes are estimated at 1 to 1-1/2 hours.

Please remember to bring a well-maintained bike, water bottle and helmet.  A bike lock isn’t required, but would be helpful for our stops.

All experienced levels are welcome!

Planned Rides:

  • August 21 (Thursday): Meet at Market 42 which is on Pearl Rd between Laurel and Sleepy Hollow. We will begin the ride at 6:30pm and will include the new sections of the Plum Creek Greenway Trail. Ride for approximately 1.5 hours. We will end with refreshments at Market 42
  • August 29 (Friday): Meet at Merwin’s Wharf (1785 Merwin Ave, Cleveland) at 11:00am. We will ride through Whiskey Island to Edgewater Park. We will then continue on portions of the Cleveland Lakefront Bikeway Trail, Centennial Lake Link Trail and Towpath Trail. The ride will include three Cleveland Signs for photo opportunities. The ride should last 2 to 2-1/2 hours and has some hills. At the conclusion of the ride, there will be an opportunity to grab lunch and possibly see the airplanes practicing for the airshow.
  • September 3 (Wednesday): Meet at Music Mound Picnic Area, which is located off North Quarry Lane in Mill Stream Run Reservation, just east of Valley Parkway in Berea. We will begin the ride at 10:00 am and will include the Lake to Lake Trail. Ride will last approximately 1.5 hours.
  • September 10 (Wednesday): Meet at Ignite Brewery. We will begin the ride at 6:00pm, and end with refreshments at Ignite. Ride for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
  • September 30 (Tuesday): Meet at Music Mound Picnic Area, which is located off North Quarry Lane in Mill Stream Run Reservation, just east of Valley Parkway in Berea. We will begin the ride at 10:00 am and ride south on the Valley Parkway to Bennet Rd and return. Ride will last approximately 1.5 hours.
  • October 8 (Wednesday): Meet at Boston trailhead located on Boston Mills Rd at the Towpath Trail near the Boston Mills Visitor Center at 12 noon. We will ride south for 1.5 hours to Lock 15 Brewery in Akron. There will be an opportunity for lunch at Lock 15 and an option to return to Boston via the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. Cost for the train is $5 which includes the rider and the bike. The train arrives near Lock 15 at 2:30pm and departs at 3:00pm. • I understand the scope and nature of the Activity, that the Activity involves a 1+ hour bicycle ride to various destinations, walking, and possible stopping at establishments for eating. I understand that I will be utilizing my own personal bicycle and intend to maintain it as required and will wear a proper helmet.

• I recognize, as with any activity, the possibility and risk of injury associated with my participation in the Activity and that such injury can include, but is not limited to, serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis, and death. I understand that such injuries can occur for any number of reasons which are both foreseeable and unforeseeable and which include, but are not limited to, my own actions or inaction, the actions or inaction of others (whether negligent, intentional, or otherwise), and equipment failure.

• I assume, for myself all risks in connection with my participation in the Activity. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I, as well as our respective heirs and assigns, executors, all other legal representatives and any others claiming through us or on behalf of us, hereby agree to release, discharge, hold harmless and indemnify the Parish, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, as well as their respective clergy, officers, employees, agents, representatives, attorneys, sponsors, and volunteers from and against all claims, judgments, liability (of any nature or extent) which in any way arise out of or relate to my participation in the Activity, whether foreseen or unforeseen, regardless of the cause (including, but not limited to, the negligence of any person).

• I understand that it is my responsibility to carry appropriate medical insurance and that such is not the responsibility of any other person or party, including, without limitation, the Parish or the Diocese of Cleveland.
